An Observation:

Flu Vaccines are relatively new, right? I don't know the exact year they were introduced, but they haven't been around for my entire life.

So why is it that people are ABSOLUTELY FREAKING THE FUCK OUT over something that they lived for years and years without?

NPR just ran a story where they interviewed a lady who reports talking to her mother on the phone and having her mother say she can't get a vaccine because they don't have any. Apparently this is breaking news?

I hope that all of the people freaking out about flu vaccines have their worst fears met. Yes, I hope they all get the flu and die, darwinism at it's finest.

1. Did anyone really think Kwame would lose? Seriously folks.

2. Did anyone hear about the elections in Dover, PA where all 8 of the school board members pushing 'intelligent design' were replaced by 8 new members who are against it? Is it possible that there are some brains waves still traversing this 'great' country of ours?

3. I'm really glad that the girls upstairs have recently acquired 2 cats who chase each other around the house and knock stuff over constantly. I really needed something else to keep me awake at night.

4. I love sourdough bread.

5. Yesterday I mailed out invitations for a 'family dinner' I'm holding at my house on November 19th. I invited Tony's parents and siblings, as well as my parents and siblings. Today I woke up and wondered why I decided to do such a thing. Oh well, at least the cards I made are cute.

6. Last night I was working on a Christmas dress for Tony's niece, and as I was trimming the extra fabric from the seam allowance on the right sleeve, I cut a big hole in it. Is it a good sign or a bad sign that this was the worst thing that happened to me yesterday?

So I'm really thrilled that the bitch upstairs replaced collette with an extremely heavy LOUD "I'm a liberal and proud" rich kid... I'll never forget the day she told me I'll 'get over' my anarchist ideas and become a liberal, which really is 'the smart thing to do... hehe LIBERAL!" She then proceeded to form an "L" with her index finger and thumb, and held it to her forhead...

Funny to me (probably not to her) the "L" sent my mind jogging back to the days of watching 'clueless' in middle school... where that very same "L" stood for 'loser'... a term I find much more fitting of her.

Liberal Losers: Apparently the world is full of them

So far I've been to two of my classes and in both of them I've found the same big problem.

EVERY DESK IS ONE OF THOSE STUPID FUCKING RIGHT-HAND-PERSON-ONLY DESKS!!!!

The class rooms are both kind of 'auditorium' style so the seats are bolted down. There is not ONE left hand desk in the entire room. How can they do that? I feel discriminated against. We've got brail on our door signs, elevators, handicapped bathroom stalls... but no desks for left handed folk. So I get to keep my body turned at an uncomfortable angle from 11:30 til 3:30 so that I can take notes and such... and let's not forget to mention that the chairs are the WEIRDEST height. I'm 5'8 with a 34" inseam. So I've got decently long legs and my feet BARELY touch the floor. The actual seat itself has this sort of lip around the edge where it curves up thus digging into my legs and cutting off my circulation. thrilled.

It's going to be a long semester.

An idea dies, in the same slight way, that we lose track of the facts. Slowly, unseen, slipping silently, through some fabricated cracks. And now the freedom of the press, has turned to freedom to impress. Perfect hair, sells product well, like suffocating, sickly smells, the make-up smears, like false pastels, like glossy, sugarcoated, shells.

Tune in, tune out, goodbye, goodnight. Turn it off until it's right, that's the news, that's all, goodnight.

The advertising dollars buy, the right to stifle antonyms, to sterilize the truth with fiction, so we can sing their corporate hymns. And all of us were cowed and bought it, hardly anybody got it. While mergers made their spires grow taller what they let you know grew smaller. And we were scared, or too bemused, and so we still turned on the news.

Are you afraid yet? They want you to be. It will keep you coming back. You are a loyal customer.
So regardless of gas prices being rigoddamnediculous I went to get groceries tonight because I decided that I'd rather spend $5 on gas than starve to death. The trip was relatively uneventful... I got stuck with one of those stupid carts that always wants to pull one way or the other and mine was a right winger so taking turns was quite difficult and I had to throw all of my weight into it (I looked quite ridiculous... and faygo 12 packs being 3/$5 made my cart heavy which didn't help the situation)

Anyway... the point is... On the drive home I decided to listen to the radio instead of my music and after flipping through the stations (starting at 88.7 and working my way up) I hit 106.7 the drive only to be granted the pleasure of THE TROOPER!!! Thus I rocked out and galloped the rest of the way home.

Moral of the story is: 0.004% of the time, radio is not worthless.

Ummm... are professors allowed to email assignments to you a full week before classes start?

This lady is basically expecting us to buy the book, read two chapters, and write a 5 page essay to turn in on the first day of class... worth 9% of our grade, no late work accepted.

I thought I was safe from homework until at least after the first day. Maybe I should look for a different class?

So for the first semester in 8 semesters, I've received my financial aid/student loan money BEFORE school starts. Can you believe it? All I need to do is wait 5 business days (so, a week)for the check to clear in my account, and I'll be able to pay my tuition, buy books, and all that jazz BEFORE SCHOOL STARTS!!! I am so excited... usually I end up having to wait 3 months into the semester and then I owe my parents a bunch of money and have a ton of stress... But not this time.

Fucking awesome.
